Sorry it took me so long to reply been bussy.

I guess part of my confusion about the IVF/surrogate route lies within uncertanty about how my spouse feels about this whole subject.  Wich makes me feel uneasy about what to do next.  S. (my hubby) came from a complex background of poverty, alchoholism, and a bad first marriage where they wanted kids but due to the wife's dx of fibroids and religous beliefs I guess she opted for a hysterectomy to treat her pain and dysfunctional bleeding.  She was against having any kids in the house to raise unless they came from her body.  S. even went so far as to get information from an adoption agency about adopting she did not even want to look at the material he brought home.  He grew up in the inercity and his parents had 7 children and a dad that drank to much and did not contribute to the family.  S. worked hard to bring himself out of poverty he promised himself that he would not be like his dad so he got sober and got married.  He spent eight years with is first whife and those i guess where happy years but they could never have babies and the technology is not what it is today to help treat the infirtile.  She eventually had a hysterectomy to treat her condition, then he says she started being irrisponsible with their money and they got heavily into debt because she was taking the money that should have been going towards the bills and the house payment and sending it overseas to her family.  S. cleaned up as much of the debt as he could he then divorced her. 

S. is in his late 40's now he's almost fifty I'm approaching 30 myself in another year and a few months.  My treating GYN told me that if we wanted kids not to wait because of the chacne of my fiborids growing back and because of S age.  That was two years ago, my difficulty with my cycles has come back and I desperately want a baby, but I'm not willing to fight with the spouse about it.  Right now he just seems so closed off and I have a dr. apt. in 3 weeks to see what is festering in my womb and to hopefuly find a treatment for it so my life can get back to normal.  I don't want to just make a decision baised on what I feel is best, because my choice no matter what I chose will have an impact on how or if we ever build a family.  I wish that money where no object and that I could hire a serogate to do what my body is unwilling to do. our health plan wich we pay almost $300  a month for does not cover any infertility therapy and the out of pocket cost for us is unatainable when you add in the IVF+the compensation to the surrogate.  I know that what the surrogate moms do is priceless, but hubby and I are even wondering where we can come up with the funds for the therapy to get the surogate pregnant.  I have no hang ups on race or social status because when we go to meet our maker in heaven all he sees is the soul and not the color of our skin.
