TriCare and Surrogacy

I have called Tricare three times now.  First time, they told me that the only thing that Tricare covered was the prenatal care (because they have to take care of me the benificiary) but they didn't cover anything before the first positive test or after the cord was cut (basically).  Then today I was told that everything was covered through a cost share with the IP's insurance.  They have to have contracts and all that to make sure that they are not paying more than the other insurance.  Then I went online looking up anything on Military surrogates and came across a post about Domestic Violence in military and surrogacy adding to the potential for DV, and about tricare covering and co-payments going up and all sorts of crazy talk.  But then one of the comments was from you Lynlee.  You said that if a surrogate is compensated that Tricare will ask for reimbusment.  BUT when I called them back they told me that there is nothing in their info that says that there is a difference when a surrogate is compensated, they told me that it all has to be taken care of through the contracts.    They also told me that I could find all the info they have on Tricare.mil but I can't.  So If anyone has any insite into what is real that would be great.  I have a couple that has contacted me and I want to be able to give her straight answers.

Thank you

jenn

OKay I am on tricare prime and a traditional surrogate, really it helps to just not say anything to tricare it is you they are careing for either way.  THis is what they will pay, a RE consult and follow up fee's meds such as clomid but not all injectibles for IVF. Ultrasounds and bloodwork before and after pregnacy is acheieved, and all prenatle care.  Once the baby is born it is not yours and therefor not covered by tricare all of your post pregancy care is covered along with delivery 100%.

good luck let me know if you need more info

Tricare is great, As IPs, they covered everything after birth with proof of birth certificate.
