I'm curious about my chances as a 48 year old woman, if I can realistically expect to have my eggs carried by a younger surrogate?  My tubes are blocked and I tried IVF a few years ago with no luck, the belief was that fibroids outside my uterus may have stopped the eggs from taking hold. However both times I produced a lot of eggs, 5-6  each time, which were planted back into me. I'm wondering if it is realistic now to look for a younger woman to carry my fertilized egg to term? Is that done? I'm still learning about surrogacy and don't know everything. Is there a facility that works with older women in that capacity?  Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately at 48, irrespective of the quantity of the eggs you produce, the chances of pregnancy are less than 1%. That is because with age, egg DNA quality deteriorates and the chances of chromosomal abnormalities, m/c and infertility increase tremendously. I would advise egg donor with you carrying the child. Fibroids are not ususally a cause of infertility and are quite common in nature. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
