Hi everyone.  I am new to this site.  It looks like I  will be able to learn all kinds of information!  (Thank you!)

My husband and I (married 11 years) just decided to go the surrogate route and do not know where to begin.  How did those of you who have surrogates find them?  I would rather find someone on my own then go through an agency that might not be able to be trusted.  I don't mind paying the money but am very cautious about agencies.

Hi! I'm new here too. We actually used an agency, but I know several people who chose the independent route and we were about to go that route right when we heard about our wonderful GS, so we decided to stay with our agency. The only way I know of to find surrogates independently is through message boards like this one or through a close friend or family member.

Thanks for your thoughts.  I actually just found a surrogate today.  An old friend of mine, Maggie, has a daughter that has two kids and is divorced.  I called Maggie today and she was not home so I spoke to her daughter, Destiny, and asked her if she would be willing to be a surrogate and she said yes.  It is pretty unbelievable!  If Destiny had not moved back in with her mother after she got divorced I would have never even thought about her as an option.  Destinty said that she loved being pregnant and was excited to do it again.  I am not counting my chickens until all the paperwork is done but it is looking good.  Now I am kinda freaking out because I did not think we would find someone so quick!  Talking about a surrogate and finding one is two totally different things!

Hi & welcome.  I'm new to this site also & am so glad you asked this question.  I've talked to a few IP's & they found their surrogate through posting a classified on sites like this or through an agency.  Dh & I are still looking & hoping to find one on our own too.
